The Orion Nebula, a stellar nursery located 1,350 light-years away, has long captivated astronomers with its star-forming capabilities and proximity to Earth. A recent study, combining observations from the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) in the United States and China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST), has revealed a hidden aspect of this celestial wonder: the intricate distribution of neutral atomic hydrogen surrounding the nebula. This detailed map, produced by merging data from both radio observatories, showcases an intricate network of shells, cavities, and filaments that were previously invisible in optical observations.
