Power Outage Leaves Over 60 Homes in the Dark in Horwich and Astley Bridge
A power outage has left over 60 homes in the dark in Horwich and Astley Bridge, with Electricity North West confirming that the issue was caused by an unexpected incident with the underground cable that provides electricity to homes and businesses.
The power cuts were reported just before 9.30pm on Friday, February 13, affecting the north of Horwich and Astley Bridge. According to Electricity North West, 55 homes and businesses in Horwich and 13 in Astley Bridge were left without power.
The company assured residents that they are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. However, they warned that the underground nature of the cable means they may need to dig to repair it, which could extend the time without power.
One concerned resident reported that the Green Lane area in Horwich was in "darkness and unsafe for pedestrians" on Friday night. Electricity North West expects power to be restored to Astley Bridge properties around 11.23am on Saturday morning, but the expected time for Horwich is "under receive".
