These drumlins, elongated mounds of glacial debris, run parallel to the ice's movement, creating a unique north-south topographic trend. It's almost as if the city's layout was predetermined by the path of the glacier.
Furthermore, the ice transported large boulders, known as glacial erratics, which now dot the landscape. One notable example is the Wedgwood Rock, a 20-foot-tall boulder that serves as a reminder of the region's glacial past.

One notable example is the leveling of Denny Hill, a project that created new land and space for development. Similarly, the filling of tideflats at the mouth of the Duwamish River led to the creation of around 1,300 acres of new land, upon which Seattle's sports stadiums now stand.

Waterways and Wildlife
